Zoe DeWitt is a Vienna based artist, philosopher and musician with roots in Viennese Actionism and Industrial Music Culture. In the 1980s Zoe became known with her solo project ‘Zero Kama’ which is regarded as one of the key acts of the Industrial-subgenre ‘ritual’ (or ‘ritual industrial’).
For ELECTROPIA she elaborated a Triptych titled “Portraits Of Myself As A Waveform”, C-Print, 3 sheets 100 x 70 cm.
In her art Zoe DeWitt exercises a kind of psychoanalytical self-exploration, and at certain opportunities she gives lecture performances to communicate her philosophy, which is about the creation of reality by the basic mechanisms of the unconscious.
In the field of performance art she has collaborated with Hermann Nitsch in the main performances (Three-, Six-, Two-Days-Game and 122 nd Action) of his Orgies Mysteries Theater in Schloss Prinzendorf and Burgtheater Wien. Above she worked with artists such as Paul Renner (‘The Hellfire Dining Club’) and Marina Abramovic.
